Low Cost Movers

Dependable Moving Services for Senior Citizens

Our senior certified crew members at Low Cost Movers, INC regularly move seniors in and out of apartments, condominiums and assisted living facilities in more than 55 communities. We have a genuine desire to serve the elderly, which is made evident in the intentional training we provide our employees in handling situations that are unique to the elderly. Our team is known for excellence in everything we do, including:

  • 1.) Being extra kind

This may seem like a given, but when helping to sort and pack their things, our team members keep in mind that some seniors may have diminished eyesight or physical limitations and are unable to see and do everything they used to do.

  • 2.) Help with sorting

The elderly tend to keep things they don't necessarily need or will never use. Our training stresses being gentle when suggesting they get rid of possessions. All of our senior certified crew members are trained to ask if they use a particular item frequently or if they would like to donate it to someone who could use it. If it's a treasure or something they'd like to keep but the new space can't accommodate it, we suggest keeping it in the family by giving it to a grandchild or another sibling. It's often easier to give away items if they are going to a good home.

  • 3.) We take lots of pictures!

Our team is equipped with digital cameras. Upon request, we can take pictures of the inside of our clients’ homes. When we arrive at your new home, we try to place all belongings and objects in a similar way so that your new home will feel much like the old one. Some of our clients even ask us to hang the pictures and place the family pictures on the bureau. This helps make the new place feel like home from day one.

  • 4.) Packing recommendations

We recommend to seniors that they start small and begin by packing a room that has a less sentimental attachment. They can then start sorting through the bathroom or kitchen drawers; a place in the house that doesn't hold the same emotional attachment as the bedroom or living room or a photo box kept in the attic.

  • 5.) Being patient

We know that some seniors need to say goodbye. Sometimes, they may take longer to clean out the desk drawer because of a stack of pictures they found. Our senior certified crew members are trained to let them take the time to remember. We understand that this is a very important part of their moving process.
